Spider Silk: The Super Material of the Future

  • Author:Lisa Zhang
  • Release on :2017-04-14
Spider silk is very tough, stronger than steel, and resistant to tear than Kevlar fiber. Although humans can be relatively easy to pass through the spider web, this is because the diameter of each line is only three thousandths of a millimeter. If it is extended to more than one millimeter, it is estimated that a spider web can catch a helicopter like a catch flies. Spider silk is also very elastic and lightweight; some spider silk can be stretched to a length of five times the length of the original length, and the length of the earth around the circle of spider silk weight only more than a pound. Spiders are also good chemists, often making their spider silk waterproof and having bacteriostatic properties.
